Real Proud Recognizes Two Cabot High Students

Two Cabot High School students were recognized by Bank of Little Rock Mortgage on Friday, September 23, during Cabot’s varsity football game against Pine Bluff. The students were honored as a part of the Real Proud of Real Panthers program, sponsored by Bank of Little Rock Mortgage. The program recognizes hard-working students who are actively involved in their community and extracurricular activities. The students honored were Cabot High School senior Ty Copeland and junior Gabrielle Rushing.
Ty Copeland was nominated by R. Lyndsey Rich, sports medicine teacher and assistant athletic trainer. Ty is a student leader who holds the office of vice president with the Sports Medicine Club and was the treasurer for the 2015-2016 school year. He is a member of Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, Skills USA and Health Occupations Students of America. Ty has a 4.04 grade point average. He competed in the HOSA sports medicine competition for two years where he received a perfect score both years on the kinesthetic lab portion of the exam. In 2016, Ty was second in the state in the entire competition. Ty is the son of proud parents Donald and Teresa Copeland.
Gabrielle Rushing was nominated by Dwight Daugherty. Gabi is an exemplary student who participates in trap, band, flag line, chess, Mu Alpha Theta, advanced placement academy, National Honor Society, French Club and Art Club. She earned the President’s Award, 1st Division Solo – Ensemble Award, 1st Division State Solo - Ensemble Award, and placed first in All-Region Band for three years. She volunteers at Greystone Nursing Home where she interacts with patients and plays games with them. Gabi plans to attend the University of Arkansas where she will study pre-med to become a neurosurgeon. Gabi is the daughter of proud parents Eli and Tracie Rushing.
During the presentation, Steve Jackson, manager of the Cabot branch of Bank of Little Rock Mortgage, presented each student with an award plaque. He also presented the Cabot Panther Foundation a check for $200 in the names of each student. During this school year, the Cabot branch of Bank of Little Rock Mortgage will contribute $100 for each student honored, culminating in $1,200 this year, to the Cabot Panther Foundation to help provide scholarships for students in the Cabot school district.
