Real Proud recognizes 3 Joplin High Students

Three Joplin High School students were recently recognized by Bank of Little Rock Mortgage on Friday, August 25th. during Joplin's varsity football game. The students were honored as a part of the Real Proud of Real Eagles program, sponsored by Bank of Little Rock Mortgage. The program recognizes hard-working students who are actively involved in their community and extracurricular activities. The students honored were Brendan Beck, Zoe Barnes and Ian Miller.

Brendan Beck is an accomplished student animator who has won several awards including first place for best directing at the TJ Film Festival, first place at the commercial PSA at Missouri Southern State University (MSSU)and first place in animation at the 2016 MSSU Media Showcase.  Brendan also received a fourth place award for 3D animation at the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) state competition. Brendan is involved in FBLA, DECA, National Honor Society, Math League, Student Council, Site Council, Fusion and participated in the International student forum in Japan.  After graduation, Brendan plans to attend the University of Southern California or the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn New York and major in animation. Brendan is the son of proud parents Jennifer and Kevin Beck.

Zoe Barnes is an award-winning musician at Joplin High School. She received a number 1 ranking at the state level for Orchestra and is actively involved in the MSSU Symphony Orchestra and volunteers for the Key Club. At school, she is involved in orchestra, serves as secretary for the Key Club, is in National English Honor Society (NEHS) and Tri-M. After graduation Zoe plans to attend Missouri State and major in music performance.  Zoe is the daughter of proud parents Jeff and Vickie Barnes.

Ian Miller is recognized for high performance in academics.  Ian received a perfect score of 36 on the ACT Performance test.  He also attended the Missouri Scholars Academy.  Ian is active in Quiz Bowl, Physics Club, and National Honor Society. After graduation, Ian plans to attend either MIT or the University of Missouri where he would like to major in Quantum Physics. Ian is the son of proud parents Chris and Stormy Miller.
