Real Proud Recognizes Two Cabot High Students

Two Cabot High School students were recognized on Friday, October 7, during Cabot’s varsity football game as a part of the Real Proud of Real Panthers program, sponsored by Bank of Little Rock Mortgage. The program recognizes hard-working students who are actively involved in their community and extracurricular activities. The students honored were Cabot High School seniors Denver Mullins and Caleigh Pickard.

Denver Mullins was nominated by Dwight Daugherty. Denver participates in baseball, the AP Academy and National Honor Society. He made All-Conference in 2015 and 2016, was on the All-State first team in 2016 and has been a three-year starter. He volunteers with Upward Basketball and maintains a 3.8 GPA in advanced placement physics and chemistry, college algebra and freshman composition. Denver plans to attend Crowder College where he will pursue baseball while studying to become a physical therapist. Denver is the son of proud parents Leslie and Wayne Mullins.

Caleigh Pickard was nominated by Jill Weir. Caleigh participates in several school activities, including forensics, theater, Sidekicks, Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society and the AP Academy. She also is treasurer of Crown Club. Caleigh has received her academic letter for two years in a row and was recognized as the standout student in chemistry. This summer, she was selected as a representative for the Youth Leadership Council for the state of Arkansas by the Arkansas Electric Cooperatives and will attend the national Electric Cooperative meeting in San Diego in February. She also was featured in Arkansas Living Magazine and will promote the youth program throughout the year. She actively volunteers with Special Olympics, parent night at elementary schools and assists as the choreographer for the eighth and ninth grade north and south dance teams. Caleigh maintains a 4.0 grade point average, is ranked 46th in a class of 757 students and plans to attend the University of Arkansas where she will major in business. Caleigh is the daughter of proud parents Wendi and Kyle Pickard.

During the presentation, Steve Jackson, manager of the Cabot branch of Bank of Little Rock Mortgage, presented each student with an award plaque. He also presented the Cabot Panther Foundation a check for $200 in the names of each student. During this school year, the Cabot branch of Bank of Little Rock Mortgage will contribute $100 for each student honored, culminating in $1,200 this year, to the Cabot Panther Foundation to help provide scholarships for students in the Cabot school district.
